Reliving a Classic with the Pittsburgh Opera’s Hansel and Gretel

Hansel and Gretel is a well-known fairy tale originally written by the Brothers Grimm that has seen many adaptations into other artistic forms over the centuries, including the opera composed by Englebert Humperdink in the late 19th century.

We recently had the chance to take in the Pittsburgh Opera's performance of Hansel and Gretel as guests of the opera, and we have to say, it was an all-around gem: the talented singers and musicians, as well as the playful set design, brought new life to this classic tale.

This kind of entertainment has been around for quite some time, and is still alive an kicking at Lee Terbosic's resident show at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco– 52 Up Close.

We were invited to check out the show and have to say, he certainly fooled us during the 90 minute performance.

V3 Pizza Review – Cheap Flatbreads in Lawrenceville

V3 Pizza used to have two locations in Pittsburgh- one downtown and one in Lawrenceville. The review below has remained unchanged from our visit to the now-closed downtown spot.

When we are exploring downtown Pittsburgh, we often find ourselves lamenting the fact that there are not very many affordable, local restaurants.

But moments after walking in for a pizza at V3 (as guests of the restaurant), we knew we found one. The reason? All pizzas are under $10 (as of 2018)!
