Hampton Inn Green Tree Review – A Standard Hotel With a Few Surprises

Normally when we review Pittsburgh hotels we select our properties to stay in to review them for their location or unique amenities.

In the case of the Hampton Inn Greentree, we selected this one for its price as we were getting some work done on our house and needed to be away for two nights with our dog without spending a lot of money.

As many hotels do not allow pets, and those that do charge an insane pet fee on top of their price, we set our sights on the Hampton Inn Greentree to take a look at their offering as one of the most budget friendly hotels in the city- and we were pleasantly surprised by what we found.

Imbibe Northside – Local Beer and Contemporary Art Combine

We've been in the habit of checking out many of Pittsburgh's beer tours and beer events in Pittsburgh recently, and one of our favorites so far is also one of the newest: Imbibe Northside.

This event is the brainchild of the team over at the soon-to-open War Streets Brewery and is hosted at the Mattress Factory museum of contemporary art.

If that combo isn't enough to pique your interest, the other dozen or so breweries, wineries, and distilleries in attendance will definitely do the trick.

Royal Myanmar Review – Burmese Cuisine in West View

Royal Myanmar in West View is one of the only places we know of in the city to get traditional Burmese food. As we had never had Burmese food before eating here, we can say that this place is a great introduction to the cuisine.

The restaurant itself is a tiny hole-in-the-wall type place where service is friendly and everyone knows the regulars – it's almost like what I would imagine a Burmese diner to be like.

Two Brothers BBQ Review – Stellar Barbecue in Presto, PA

At this time it seems Two Brothers BBQ may be closed.

Pittsburgh's barbecue scene is often considered to be lacking among other similarly sized cities. We have many joints in the region serving up barbecue, but little to none of them have the fanfare and almost cult-like following like you see in other spots around the country.

That is, except for Two Brothers BBQ in Presto, PA.

The Three Rivers Arts Festival – An Annual Favorite

The Three Rivers Arts Festival is one of the most popular annual events in Pittsburgh.

This two-week long festival in June celebrates all things arts and includes dozens upon dozens of booths of art vendors, live performances and music, extended gallery hours, and so much more in downtown Pittsburgh.

While you may need to visit this one multiple times in order to truly experience it all, a visit during any day of the festival has enough to keep anyone busy.

City Brew Tours Review – An Introduction to Pittsburgh’s Beer Scene

Pittsburgh's brewery scene is pretty astounding. In the past ten years we've gone from having just a handful of breweries to having well over four dozen in an hour radius with another couple dozen set to open in the next few years.

As such, tackling them all can be quite tricky unless you're able to go out for a beer every single weekend.

To help get you out to more breweries in one go, City Brew Tours launched a Pittsburgh beer tour to help introduce beer fans into Pittsburgh's growing and thriving craft beer scene.

We were invited out by City Brew Tours to check out their After Hours Brew Tour which was just the evening out we were looking for.

We have the fantastic Science Center and Children's Museum that are family oriented. We even have the Fort Pitt Museum and Heinz History Center that focus on the amazing history of Western Pennsylvania from the very first settlements to the present.

But you probably knew this already.

We could actually spend a lot of time writing about all of the more mainstream museums in Pittsburgh and barely begin to scratch the surface.

Today we wanted to go beyond those and talk about a few Pittsburgh museums that you would never expect to find here. These hidden (and not-so-hidden) gems are what make our museum scene truly special, and on your next trip out we highly encourage you to visit one of these unusual finds.

To get started, we're going to begin with a few you've likely heard of before, and then go down the rabbit hole to some really unique spots you can find only in Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania! To read more about each museum featured in this list, click the link in the description to head to our full review.
