We have a soft spot for all things Oktoberfest, and after getting to enjoy the celebration in Munich for its wild party, we love checking out all of the Pittsburgh Oktoberfest celebrations that take place throughout September (and spill into October).

As there are no shortage of events taking place in breweries and other public places, we thought we would share a few of the top Oktoberfest events you may want to consider. Prost!

Oktoberfest at Teutonia Mannerchor

Teutonia Mannerchor

When it comes to getting into the Oktoberfest spirit, it is hard to beat checking out Teutonia Mannerchor, the normally private German social club in the North Side. This one often opens up for public Oktoberfest parties with ample German brews, a ton of German food for purchase, and of course live music throughout the day and night.

In 2024, Teutonia Mannerchor's Oktoberfest is a little early, running August 30th to September 1st. Don't miss out on the fun if you can check it out! While visiting, be sure to go inside to check out the beautiful Ratskeller in the basement (pictured).

Teutonia Mannerchor is located at 857 Phineas Street in the North Side. Note that Oktoberfest here typically includes an entry fee payable in cash only ($5 as of our last Oktoberfest in 2024) and house “Mannerchor Money” is often available to purchase with credit card in a separate, and typically long, line. As such, cash is recommended for all purchases.

Oktoberfest at Penn Brewery

Penn Brewery

In Pittsburgh, there is no party quite like Penn Brewery's Oktoberfest. The celebration takes place over three weekends, September 20th to 22nd, 27th to 29th, and October 4th to 6th in 2024, with fun, food, music, and German brews served indoors and in the outdoor beer garden.

Seating at this one is first come, first served outside of a small selection of VIP packages open for reservation at night. Children are welcome until 8 PM when the event becomes 21+ only.

Penn Brewery is located at 800 Vinial Street in the North Side.

Pennsylvania Bavarian Oktoberfest in Canonsburg

Pennsylvania Bavarian Oktoberfest

In the mood for a larger Oktoberfest celebration that doesn't revolve around a single brewery? Washington County's annual Pennsylvania Bavarian Oktoberfest is the place to be. Taking place in Canonsburg on September 20th to 22nd, 2024 the festival includes two stages of live music, German and American food, a craft area for kids, carnival rides and games, and, of course, beer!

More information about the Pennsylvania Bavarian Oktoberfest can be found on their Facebook page.

Oktoberfest in Market Square

Market Square is getting into the Oktoberfest fun with a new event in 2024, aptly named Oktoberfest Pittsburgh. This one runs from October 3rd to 14th and features a Bavarian village, Oktoberfest decorations, games, music, and, of course, beer!

Events scheduled include Feats of Strength, Karneval on the Sixth Street Bridge (with a 60-foot Ferris Wheel), and a whole lot more. The Biergarten will run from noon to 8pm on weekdays and will stay open til 10pm on weekends, with Market Square restaurants the Original Oyster House and Primanti Brothers providing the food.

Oktoberfest in Eleventh Hour's German Village

11th Hour German Village

You may be aware that the space Eleventh Hour Brewing is in was once part of the factory run by Charles Brown III, who famously constructed the Bayernhof House (now museum) in O'Hara Township. Naturally, it should be no surprise that the Lawrenceville space has some German elements hidden away, too. Eleventh Hour has also shown off their “secret German Village” during their Oktoberfest as well with programming on September 21st, 27th, 28th, and October 4th and 5th in 2024. Saturday programming begins at noon for those who want to enjoy the festivities even earlier!

Eleventh Hour Brewing is located at 3711 Charlotte Street in Lawrenceville.

VOktoberfest – Vegan Oktoberfest at Velum

Velum Fermentation

Looking to get into the Oktoberfest spirit but don't want a meat-heavy dining menu? Velum Fermentation is partnering with the Pittsburgh Vegan Expo for a unique, vegan-focused event aptly called VOktoberfest!

Rocktoberfest by Beers of the Burgh

The team behind one of the region's premier beer festivals, Beers of the Burgh, is back with a fun take on the traditional Oktoberfest with Rocktoberfest. Beer, rock and roll, and more at South Side Works? We can get behind that.

In 2024, Rocktoberfest will take place at South Side Works Town Square on September 21st from 4 to 10 PM. The event is free to attend and will feature beers from Brew Gentlemen, Levity Brewing, and Straub Beer. A sampling pass will be available for purchase to enjoy select 5-ounce pours, one from each brewery, and additional samples from other on-site producers for $10. Food options include Brisketburgh, Cilantro & Ajo, PGH Crepes, Taquitos, and Slice on Broadway.

More information about Rocktoberfest can be found on their website.

Golden Age Oktoberfest

Golden Age

Finally, we come to Golden Age Beer Co in Homestead- known for making an array of Old World beer styles. Based on their brews of choice, it should be no surprise this one is getting into the Octoberfest fun. In 2024, Golden Age Beer's Oktoberfest will run from September 20th to October 6th and will feature daily entertainment, a new German food menu, three Oktoberfest lagers, a Weizen collab, and a whole lot more.

Golden Age Beer Co is located at 337 E 8th Avenue in Homestead, PA.
