The Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Pittsburgh is a newer addition to Pittsburgh's hotel scene, having just opened in March 2016.

With clean and modern rooms (many of which have views of Market Square), an adjacent parking garage, and two on-site restaurants, this hotel is a great option for those visiting the city and wanting to be at the center of all the action.

The Rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh Downtown

Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh Downtown

The rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh Downtown are a decent size and offer standard Hilton amenities like comfortable Serta Perfect Sleeper beds, Keurigs, microwaves, LED HDTVs, refrigerators, Neutrogena amenities, and free Wifi.

For those who like high-end hotels, this may not be much worth talking about as they are fairly standard amenities, but if you are like us and have come to appreciate the Hilton line in your travels, this room will have a familiar comfort you'll certainly enjoy.

Market Square in Downtown Pittsburgh

The hotel itself is unique in that it is located right next to the bustling Market Square, and the U-shaped layout of the building means that many of the rooms boast great views over the square as well.

For those who are able to splurge, a room on a higher floor ending in 22 will have the best view of both Market Square and likely PPG Place (perfect for views around Christmas-time like when we stayed) and higher numbered rooms on the interior of the U-shape will also have great views. (All room views featured in this post were from 1121).

Lower numbered rooms may have more obstructed views of Market Square and should be avoided, unless you can grab a room ending in 01, which is end-facing and should also have prime views over Market Square.

Above Average Hotel Dining Options in Pittsburgh

Revel + Roost

In addition to a snack shop in the lobby, the hotel has two great on-site dining options at Revel + Roost. Revel is on the first floor of the hotel and is more of a bar with food like snacks, burgers, and pizzas.

For more of a sit-down dining experience, Roost on the second floor of the hotel has you covered. Revel + Roost is notable in that it's several steps above standard Hilton Garden Inn restaurants- it's actually a dining destination for people living in the city, and not just for those staying at the hotel (so be sure to make a reservation in advance).

Another great benefit of the hotel is the free breakfast for Hilton Honors Gold and Diamond members at Roost. While most Hilton Garden Inns offer a simple buffet for the free breakfast, the offering at Roost includes a sit-down meal where you can choose from a number of tasty entrees like eggs benedict, quiches, frittatas, waffles, pancakes, and more.

A Note on Parking for the Hilton Downtown Pittsburgh

Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh Downtown Review

The hotel has self-parking at an adjacent garage with rates that are pretty typical for downtown. Other nearby city lots offer night and weekend rates for a much more reasonable price (without in-and-out privileges); however, keep in mind most rates shoot up substantially at 6am on weekdays so those staying overnight in one of these garages may benefit only select itineraries and circumstances.

Likewise, if you want to explore without getting in your car, there's also a convenient shuttle that runs every half hour to anywhere within three miles of the hotel (note: we've heard reports that this shuttle may no longer be offered but are unable to verify- if this is important to you please check prior to booking).

Overall, the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Pittsburgh is a gem in the city's downtown hotel scene. It has one of the best locations, decent amenities, incredible views from many of the rooms, and more- making this one a perfect option for visitors who want it all.
