Bubba’s Review – Pizza and Polish Food in Greensburg and Irwin

Bubba’s is primarily a takeout and delivery restaurant in Greensburg, PA, featuring an unlikely combination of cuisines: pizza and Polish food. (Note: Their second location in Irwin has a larger dining space.)

Although this seems like a weird mix, trust us on this one. The service is extremely friendly, the pizza is unique, and the Polish food is top notch.

We visited Bubba’s after checking out the light display at Overly’s Country Christmas, also in Greensburg. Although the light display left a little to be desired, Bubba’s came to the rescue with a delicious meal that allowed us to refuel from the cold weather.

Eighth & Hays Wine Bar Review – Premium Wine Samples

Eighth & Hays is a premium wine bar located in Homestead, PA, just a stone’s throw from the popular Waterfront shopping district.

While this one offers an array of high-end wines for sampling, the bar does a fantastic job balancing their offering with more conventional wines, beer, and cocktails- perfect for all drinking interests and budgets!

Federal Galley Review – A Stellar Restaurant Incubator

Federal Galley follows in its sister restaurant’s (Smallman Galley, now closed) footsteps in that it is a restaurant incubator that features four chefs in a food hall format.

Each chef receives a small stall in which to prepare their meals and has a contract for a variable length of time that will allow the galley to rotate new chefs in and out over the years. If you were a fan of Smallman Galley in the Strip District, then this one is for you.

Much like our review for its sister restaurant, we visited Federal Galley no fewer than five times after opening and in this review will be breaking down our meals from each chef individually!

Bella Bambini Cello Review – Flavorful Alcohol Infusions

Pittsburgh’s alcohol scene is growing at an incredible pace, and over the last few years we’ve been fortunate to have many breweries, whiskey distilleries, rum distilleries, and even a vodka distillery open and call the region home.

One alcohol style we have not been fortunate enough to have is an infusion producer. This all changed when Bella Bambini Cello opened its doors in Coraopolis in late 2017.

Dive Bar Review – A Modern Gastropub in Lawrenceville

Dive Bar is, in contrast with its name, a modern gastropub with three locations in the area in Lawrenceville, South Side, and Wexford. The menu features several standard bar favorites like burgers and wings but mixes it up with some twists including unique appetizers and sandwiches. They’ve also got a great happy hour deal which is $2 off draft beer and half off appetizers.

We visited the Lawrenceville location recently for happy hour and were pleasantly surprised at our meal. We thought Dive Bar was going to be just another mediocre bar in the sea of many in Lawrenceville, but there were a few things that set it apart.

Udipi Cafe Review – Southern Indian Cuisine at Its Finest

Udipi Cafe in Monroeville has been on our radar for quite some time as one of the only places in the area to get delicious and authentic Southern Indian cuisine. We finally recently ventured out to this spot and we have to say, it’s worth the drive.

While it won’t win any points for atmosphere, this all-vegetarian spot serves up traditional dishes like dosa and Thali sets that transport you straight to India. Southern India, that is.

Miracle Bar Pop-Up Review – Wall to Wall Christmas

If there is any Christmas popup bar that we try to visit at least once every December, it would be Miracle Bar.

To call this holiday pop-up bar popular would be an understatement, as seemingly everyone wants a piece of the action- Miracle Bar is routinely the most popular and can have lines to match.

Thankfully, in subsequent years the bar has moved into larger and larger spaces to accommodate guests, and has truly grown to be the premier holiday bar in the city!

City Works Review – 90 Beers on Tap in Market Square

City Works in Market Square is a massive pub with a huge draft list, and it’s perfectly situated in PPG Place for after work happy hours and watching sports games on one of their 15 TVs.

We visited on a recent week night just after happy hour had ended, and it was bustling with large groups of professionals enjoying the deals ($4 rotating drafts and select $4 appetizers). While we were sad about missing out on the specials, we dove in to our meal all the same.

Baby Loves Tacos Review – Delicious Tacos in Bloomfield

Baby Loves Tacos is a popular taco joint that opened its first brick and mortar store in Bloomfield in early 2018.

The restaurant opening was eagerly anticipated as this one hosted frequent pop-ups around Pittsburgh and gained a legion of die-hard fans along the way. The popularity is worth it, as Baby Loves Tacos makes what we believe are some of the best all-around tacos we’ve had in the city.
