You know we are suckers for a good Pittsburgh t-shirt, one of our favorite stores in the area is the downtown-based Steel City as many of their shirts capture what it means to truly be a proud Pittsburgher. The “I'm Just Here for the Pierogies” shirt is a great one to wear at PNC Park and the “Pittsburgh – So Many Rings it Should Be a Planet” shirt we could wear just about everywhere to name a few.
As this one has been selling its gear online and downtown for over 15 years, we were delighted to find out that they are now expanding to its second location, the aptly named Steel City Garage, to the Streets of Cranberry in Cranberry Township.
We were able to check out this store for a sneak preview and wanted to share more about what you can find here!
Steel City Garage is Supplying the North Hills With Stellar Pittsburgh Gear
If you are familiar with the awesome Pittsburgh gear sold by Steel City, you may be wondering about the twist with the garage component of the Cranberry location. This one is “a tribute to the American worker” with the “American dream to build something or find something and make it better”.
The store lives and breathes this philosophy while also being an homage to growing up in their grandfather's garage in Turtle Creek where they “learned how to run a business, how to treat your customers, and how to put in an honest day's work” to name a few.
This sentiment is found not only in the decor of the store (featuring several vintage photos of their grandfather prominently placed) as well as in the design of products made exclusively for this location. (We also hear a rumor that they might be opening a coffee shop next door dedicated to their grandmother, so watch out for that soon!)
But if you are looking for some classic Pittsburgh gear, this store has you covered too as some of their iconic designs can also be found for sale as well, including their namesake Steel City shirt, the Yinz hat, and of course the pierogi shirt mentioned in the intro to this one. (Naturally, I had to buy that one during my stop- I 100% will be wearing this to my next Pirates game.)
So whether you want to visit to pick up a new Pittsburgh shirt, check out the amazing new store and its opening weekend festivities, or try your luck at being one of the first in the door to score that stellar door prize, the grand opening celebration for Steel City Garage is sure to be a lot of fun!
