Attending Kayafest for One of the Strip District’s Best Parties

Kayafest is the annual block party by the popular Strip District restaurant (and one of our favorites), Kaya.

Taking place each May, this one offers about eight hours of live music (with many bands inspired by the Caribbean), opportunities to eat street food made from the chefs at the restaurant, and of course, copious amounts of refreshments.

As block parties in the Strip District are few and far between, it is also one of only a few times of the year that a section of Smallman Street is shut down for an entire day- giving you an opportunity to enjoy the Strip District in a completely new way.

Cedar Creek Park – A Quick Hike Through The Gorge

Cedar Creek Park is a 479 acre park located on the shore of the Youghiogheny River in Westmoreland County, just under an hour southeast of Pittsburgh.

Although known for its picnic pavilions, access to the river, and being home to a section of the Great Allegheny Passage trail, Cedar Creek Park is also home to a beautiful one-mile hike through a shaded gorge that makes for a perfect morning out from Pittsburgh.

Carnegie Museum of Art 21+ Night – Adults Only Museum Exploration

Sometimes you just want to be alone in a museum. Other times, you want to party at a museum.

At the Carnegie Museums, this means heading to one of the periodic 21+ Nights where you and other like-minded adults can experience the museum with a beer and participate in themed activities- 100% kid free!

You wouldn't think twice about this unassuming house in Homewood West if it wasn't for the modest sign out front and two massive smokers along the side. But as soon as we arrived, we knew we were in the right place for barbecue.

We are told that Maifest is no longer returning at Teutonia Mannerchor; however, they will have other festivities throughout the year for the public.

German beer lovers, rejoice!

You don't have to book an expensive plane ticket to fly to Germany to drink great beer.

Bigham Tavern Review – A Hidden Gem on Mount Washington

Bigham Tavern is one of those places that you may never come across when exploring Mount Washington unless you are expressly looking for it.

We would know- we lived on Mount Washington for two years and had no idea that Bigham street had a gastropub, and we lived just a few blocks away.

It wasn't until we published our neighborhood guide that we got a lot of feedback that we missed this hidden gem, and we made a return trip to the neighborhood to check it out.

We really were missing out.

Art All Night – An Annual Art Event Worth Staying Up For

Art All Night is an annual pop-up art event in Pittsburgh that takes place each spring with an incredible array of art, hosted without juries or censorship, open for just one day (including overnight) for guests to enjoy!

The location of this one often changes from year-to-year, and is part of the fun as you never really know where the art event will pop up next until just before the next year is announced!
