The Carnegie International is a Once Every Four Year Treat

Move over, Olympics, the art world has its own once every four-year special event!

The Carnegie International at the Carnegie Museum of Art is the longest-running international art show in North America, and showcases works from artists from around the world every four years (okay, fine, four years-ish).

We got to check out the 2026-2027 Carnegie International during a media preview event, and this one really showcases the theme, If The Word We, quite beautifully.

Okane Sushi Review – Omakase Dining in Downtown Pittsburgh

As big fans of all things Japanese cuisine, we have been thrilled to see many higher-end restaurants open up in the city serving sushi and other regional specialties.

Okane in downtown Pittsburgh is one such restaurant, and focuses on a prix-fixe omakase experience with 16 to 20 courses. We have had many omakase dinners like this during our travels in Japan, and it is one of our favorite dining styles to try chef-curated bites over the course of an evening.

So we booked a reservation for my birthday and made our way downtown to try this one out shortly after it opened!

10 Great Ways to Celebrate the NFL Draft in Pittsburgh

NFL Draft Week in Pittsburgh is here!

We are really thrilled that Pittsburgh was chosen to be the home of the 2026 Draft, and for those who are visiting, rest assured, our city knows how to throw a party. From the big event at Acrisure Stadium itself (okay, fine, it'll always be Heinz Field to us) to numerous pop-up events throughout the North Shore, downtown, and throughout the city, there really is a lot to do during this one.

So whether you're coming into the city to check out the NFL Draft or are a local and want to get in on all of the football-themed fun, we've got you covered with some of the top things to do during the Draft!

Note: Most of the areas with programming will have metal detectors at entrances. The NFL's clear bag rules are in effect in virtually every event space in the city mentioned in this one. You may be asked to show your QR code for admittance to the Draft area and Point State Park; however, during our visits we were not asked to show ours.

First Look at Arts Landing in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District

After 22 months of construction, the highly anticipated Arts Landing in downtown Pittsburgh had its ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 17th, 2026- just ahead of the NFL Draft.

As we have been eagerly looking forward to this park, I made my way down to the Cultural District to check out Arts Landing during the event and was pleasantly surprised at the space, amenities, and, of course, art!

So let's share a first look at what you can expect at Arts Landing!

5 Pittsburgh Businesses Found Inside Converted Churches

We love the architecture and history of iconic churches, and, like many cities, Pittsburgh has seen its share of churches close over the years.

But rather than being demolished, many of these beautiful spaces have been de-sanctified, purchased by private investors, and given new life as a business with a unique setting!

In this one, we wanted to share a few of our favorite churches-turned-businesses in the Pittsburgh metro!

Note: While many may find it sad that churches are no longer being used for their original intent as a house of worship, we fully support the beautiful buildings being given a new life rather than being demolished.

Cork and Crust Review – Premium Italian in Oakland

Cork and Crust is a high-end Italian restaurant inside The Oaklander Hotel in Oakland, featuring shareable dishes, pasta, and flavorful pizzas made by a James Beard-nominated chef, plus a large cocktail and wine program to go along with it.

We were fortunate enough to check this one out as a guest of the restaurant shortly after they opened (partially hosted), and had a pleasant evening out with some delicious pasta and pizza.

But while we enjoyed this one and are particularly glad to see more chef-driven hotel restaurants opening in Pittsburgh, the menu prices gave us pause. This one really is premium dining in Pittsburgh through and through.

8 Star Cuisine Review – All You Can Eat Asian Buffet

In recent years, there has been a rise in higher-end, themed all-you-can-eat Asian buffets opening in the Pittsburgh metro area.

In Gibsonia, 8 Star Cuisine came onto the scene with immediate popularity, and naturally, we had to go check it out with our friends Alex Eats Too Much and The Indian Somm for a lunchtime feast.

Although this one doesn't stray too far from the popular buffet mold, the ample variety of cuisines and a reasonable lunchtime price point made for a delicious meal out, with a few dishes standing out as favorites.

Fry Bar Review – Killer Wings and Loaded Fries in North Side

Fry Bar in the North Side is a bit of an unassuming restaurant on Galveston Ave- just a few blocks north of the Western Avenue business district.

Although its name suggests that the restaurant is a spot to visit for French fries, which they do have in abundance, this one offers a rather large menu beyond that, including fried and smoked wings, sandwiches, and more that you absolutely should not miss.

To say this one surpassed all expectations is an understatement, and their wings may be our very favorite we've had in the city to date.

Yes, they're the real deal.
