Wise County Biscuits & Cafe is a breakfast and lunch spot serving up their delicious homemade biscuits, breakfast sandwiches, and more in their adorable North Side cafe.

We have long been fans of their biscuits and are regular customers at their farmer's market booths, so we are ecstatic that they now have a brick-and-mortar shop where we can continue to get our biscuit fix all year long!

Go for the Biscuits, Stay for Menu at Wise County Biscuits

Wise County Biscuits & Cafe

Wise County Biscuits is located just off of the Western Ave. business district in the North Side on Galveston Ave. The space is welcoming and cozy with plenty of seating, large storefront windows for lots of natural light, and baking tins hung on the back wall that give southern cafe vibes.

If there is a space in the North Side where we could just roll up and work while enjoying some delicious food and beverages, it would most certainly be here.

Fried Chicken Biscuit and Sandwich at Wise County cafe

The menu features a variety of breakfast sandwiches, all on Wise County's famous, melt-in-your-mouth biscuits. Options like greens, egg, and ham; fried chicken; and country ham with mustard all tempted us. There's also an option to build-your-own sandwich with egg and your choice of two toppings.

We are suckers for fried chicken, and Wise County's version was among the best we've recently had anywhere. The chicken had a perfectly crispy fry, and just the right amount of honey drizzled on top to have a little sweetness without being overwhelming. Piled on a tender, flaky biscuit, this was one memorable fried chicken sandwich.

But the menu has plenty of other tempting options besides biscuit sandwiches- for breakfast, there are dishes like biscuits and gravy, a grits bowl, Johnny cakes, and chicken fried steak. We can't wait to return to try some of these out.

Baked Good Case

Starting at 11am every day, the cafe also offers lunch options like a diner burger, chicken pot pie, soups, and salads. In addition to our biscuit, we were drawn to the braised pork sandwich, which was topped with braised greens, aged provolone, pepper relish, and mayo. This sandwich was simply mind-blowingly satisfying- the pork was moist and herbaceous, the greens were well-seasoned and tender, the aged provolone provided a nice and tangy bite, and the pepper relish gave a crunchy zinginess.

Everything we love in a sandwich was right here- it's the kind of sandwich we're still dreaming about several days later. We're so glad we branched out from the biscuits to try some of the delicious lunch menu. These stand up to their incredible biscuits and then some!

Overall, we are overjoyed that Wise County Biscuits now has a brick-and-mortar cafe so that we can satisfy our biscuit cravings year-round. Wise County is the kind of neighborhood hangout that this part of the North Side desperately needed. It's cozy, casual, and, most importantly, offers flavorful, scratch-made food that's immensely satisfying. We are sure to be regulars here!
