JJs World Offers a Delicious Menu in Chicora

Pretzel Sticks

We started our meal off with an order of Bavarian soft pretzel sticks which included four massive sticks per order plus sides of beer cheese and honey mustard. I had almost ordered a second appetizer to share, and given the size of these, I'm glad I didn't given the generous portion.

The pretzel sticks had a nice firm exterior with soft inside and made for a delicious start to our meal.

Ash & Gold Pierogi

For our entrees, although JJ's World has numerous smoked meats, pastas, sandwiches, and other entrees on their main menu, the weekly specials caught our eye in particular during this visit. We placed an order for the Ash & Gold Pierogi and the Sauer-Pork loin.

The Ash & Gold pierogi entree included a spread of approximately six pierogis (made by Gosia's- one of the best in the region) and topped with a generous spread of chopped applewood bacon, sauteed onions, shaved Brussels sprouts, an apple reduction, and black garlic aioli. It was one of those dishes where the pierogi on their own would've been a delight for the perfect texture, but the sweet and savory topping really took it to another level.

These aren't your conventional pierogi by any means!

Sauer-Pork

The Sauer-Pork was a rather large smoked pork loin served with sauerkraut, spaetzle, and was topped with toasted rye bread crumbs and served with a whole grain mustard cream sauce. Much like the pierogi, the toppings absolutely made this one for a bit of texture and tangy bite with the sauerkraut.

That said, we would be remiss if we didn't note that the pork loin itself was served a bit more on the medium well side and was a bit firmer than we'd normally prefer, but otherwise had a nice smoked flavor all around.

The spaetzle on the side was also quite enjoyable due to its light and fluffy texture- a must for us when it comes to this side.

Overall, JJ's World in Chicora was a bit of a surprise to use for a well executed menu with numerous smoked meats in addition to sandwiches, pastas, and other dishes. This is definitely one of those unassuming spots that offers a spread of delicious food worth stopping for. So if you're nearby and are in the mood for a feast, don't overlook a stop here!

JJ's World is located at 123 N Main St in Chicora, PA.
