When it comes to hotels with city views in Pittsburgh, we are fortunate enough to have several of them. In our quest to visit the city's top hotels, we've come to find that while many hotels have city views, not all of them have great views in relative abundance. As such, planning on getting a room with an epic view can be tricky depending on where you stay.

To help with this, we found five hotels that not only have great views, but views in a good number of rooms as well. You may still have to do a bit of work to get one, but if you plan accordingly your chances for that stellar scene go up quite a bit!

Sheraton Station Square

Sheraton Station Square Pittsburgh

The Sheraton Station Square is a solid choice for first-time visitors to Pittsburgh, as it is located near several popular attractions like the Gateway Clipper dock and the Monongahela Incline up to Mt. Washington. Plus, it's really close to a T station where you can hop on Pittsburgh's light rail system and get downtown or to the stadiums quickly. To top it all off, the hotel is located across the river from downtown, meaning many of the rooms have a great vantage point for city views!

Things to consider: The rooms are comfortable but fairly basic- the location and views are the highlights here. Parking is charged per day and WiFi is free for Starwood Preferred Guest members. The hotel is also dog-friendly and welcomes furry friends up to 50 pounds!

To get a room with a view at the Sheraton Station Square, purchase one of the premium river view rooms (often described as “with view” on 3rd party booking sites).

Holiday Inn Pittsburgh North Shore

Holiday Inn Pittsburgh North Shore

The Holiday Inn Pittsburgh North Shore is great for those looking to stay close to PNC Park on a budget. It's also easy to get around the North Shore and downtown, especially with the hotel's free shuttle that travels within a few mile radius of the hotel. The views on the upper levels of the hotel are stunning and would be perfect for watching the fireworks after a Pirates game (if you're not at the game, of course!).

Things to consider: The hotel is located pretty close to the highway and the rooms adjacent to it (not the rooms with city views) may have some noise from it. A surface parking lot is right next to the hotel and charges per day.

To get a room with a view at the Holiday Inn Pittsburgh North Shore, grab a higher level floor (around six or above) with room number ending in 5 through 11. Rooms ending in 5 are corner rooms with extra space and a great angle of the Roberto Clemente Bridge and would be perfect for Pirates Fireworks Night if you're not attending the game.

The Fairmont Downtown Pittsburgh

Located in the heart of the city adjacent to Market Square, the Fairmont is one of the newer downtown hotels, opened in 2010. Many of the rooms in this luxurious hotel have excellent views of Market Square and PNC Park. The floor to ceiling windows in the guest rooms enhance the great views, too. The hotel's location is perfect if you're seeing a show or performance in the cultural district as it's just a block or two away from all of the theaters.

Things to consider: The hotel features a full service health club and spa which is relatively unique for downtown Pittsburgh. Overnight valet fees are charged. The hotel also offers free bicycles for guest use which would be perfect on the North Shore River Trail.

To grab a room with a view: Be sure to book a “city view” room. Also available are “river view” rooms and standard rooms which face away from the city (with moderately decent views all the same).

Embassy Suites Downtown Pittsburgh

Embassy Suites Pittsburgh

The Embassy Suites in Downtown Pittsburgh is a newer hotel with modern, two-room suites throughout. The property is unique in that is located on the top floors of a downtown high rise, meaning tons of great views! If you value luxury and added space while also having a great city view, this one is for you.

Things to consider: The hotel offers complimentary breakfast (rare for a downtown hotel) and complimentary evening receptions Mondays-Thursdays with snacks and alcoholic beverages. Don't miss Ollie's Gastropub which has some of the best cocktails we've had at a hotel bar and a great view down into PNC Park.

To get a room with a view at the Embassy Suites Downtown Pittsburgh, grab any room except those ending in 4, 5, 6, 21, 22, and 23 as they are slightly obstructed. Rooms ending in 7 and 8 on high floors and rooms ending in 19 and 20 on all floors likely have the “best” views (7 and 8 may have views into PNC Park while 19 and 20 have better views of PPG Place).

Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Pittsburgh

Hilton Garden Inn Pittsburgh

The Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Pittsburgh is located right in the heart of the city in bustling Market Square. This allows you to get pretty much anywhere downtown on foot with ease, and many rooms have stunning views of the city skyline as well. Although the downtown dining scene is at your disposal here, the hotel is also home to a popular local restaurant Revel and Roost whose two restaurants are a decent option at any time of day if you aren't feeling in the mood for exploring.

Things to consider: Hotel parking here is charged nightly but night and weekend rates at public garages are quite per day (without in and out access). Just remember that if you park in a public lot on Sunday night or on a weeknight that rates jump substantially early the following morning.

To get a room with a view at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown Pittsburgh, grab a room ending in 22 or 01 for the best views of Market Square. Higher numbered rooms on the interior of the hotel's “U” shape should also have decent views of Market Square, while lowered number rooms (2, 3, etc) may not. These rooms are also great during the holidays as Market Square transforms into a great Pittsburgh Christmas market!
